Compensation for WASPI Women

Women born in the 1950s were not properly informed of the rise in their state pension age. Like others, I believe these women should be compensated by the UK Government.
The UK Labour government’s betrayal of WASPI women is shocking. Almost 30,000 women in Glasgow may have lost out on pension payments.
As a result of the DWP’s failure to inform them of changes to the state pension age, it is estimated up to 355,910 women across Scotland were not able to adequately plan for their retirement.
Labour said time and time again they would compensate women. However, once in power they reneged on this promise.
The SNP however continues to call for the WASPI Women to receive the compensation they deserve.
What I've said on the issue
- January 2025. I was able to speak in the debate in Parliament about compensation for WASPI women. You can watch this and read my full speech online
 - December 2024. I met with Liz, a constituent who visited the Scottish Parliament with fellow WASPI woman campaigners. Their campaign goes on, and their anger with the Labour Government for being completely let down was palpable.

Motions
I have also supported the following motions in the Scottish Parliament
