Improvments coming to Saracen Street

I am delighted an example of excellent partnership work in Possil that I have been pleased to support has had a key funding boost. The partnership is between local businesses, community groups, NG Homes and the City Council. Partners have been developing a business improvement district, a funding mechanism from Scotland’s Towns Partnership who are funded by the Scottish Government. Everyone is keen to play their part in improving the local area and make it a more welcoming and attractive place to visit.

Families getting more support under new system.

The Scottish Parliament is gaining some Social Security powers from the UK. Fairness is at the heart of everything our SNP Scottish Government does. With progressive changes, we are determined to provide the best support for those who need it.

The new Best Start Grant package is putting more money in the pockets of low income families than the UK Government controlled DWP system it replaced.

Visiting the opening of Denmark Close

It was great to meet Martha and Maria (along with wee Brodie) and to chat with them about the difference their new homes are making to their family’s lives. Funded by the Scottish Government and Hawthorn Housing Cooperative in partnership with Glasgow City Council, I pay tribute to Hawthorn Housing who are true champions for their local community.

Today, I held drop-in advice surgeries across the constituency. They took place in Kelvindale, Summerston and Milton, and I was joined with Patrick Grady MP, Cllr Kenny McLean, Cllr John Letford, Cllr Jacqueline McLaren and Cllr Allan Gow.
