In a letter to SNP MSP Ash Denham, Ruth Davidson this week said she was "sympathetic" to the DWP's aim of reducing costs through closures, offering only a mealy-mouthed promise to "engage closely" with the DWP on the potential impact on claimants.

Jobcentre MaryhillConcern that proposals are just 'tip of the iceberg'

SNP MSP Bob Doris has condemned the UK government for "unacceptable and dangerous" cuts to job centres in Glasgow – following the news last month that the DWP was planning to close 50% of the city's job centre estate.

The DWP has been guilty of taking a callous and ideological approach to welfare since the Tories took office in 2010, and shows no signs of letting up – with the proposed closures of 8 of Glasgow's 16 job centres part of a nationwide cut of 20% of the job centre estate and simply the tip of the iceberg.

counciltaxbillSNP secure £100m for education

Labour and the Green Party have tonight teamed up with the Tories to put political point-scoring ahead of fairer taxation as the SNP put securing £100m for education ahead of party political games.

In an important vote on the SNP’s progressive council tax plans, designed to protect low income households and generate £100 million of additional revenue to invest in schools, opposition parties Labour and the Greens voted with the Tories against plans for further reform of taxation to be fair and progressive.

I wish to update you on the current situation regarding bus routes serving Kelvindale. The new M4 service is clearly of little benefit, but following the representations both myself and Cllr Letford have made on behalf of constituents, First Glasgow have now put two options on the table to reconfigure the route to be served by the M4.

Following our suggestions, the new route proposed through Hyndland, Byres Road and on to either Glasgow University or Partick, would appear to better reflect the needs of local travellers compared to the current flawed M4 service.
